Blondies: The Brown Sugar Brownie
October 23, 2012 in Cassie, Sweets
When I told people I was going to make blondies for our recent gym event, people looked at me and said, “You mean brownies, right?”
Wrong. Blondies are made with brown sugar instead of cocoa powder. They’re still just as moist as a brownie and even with how much brown sugar you use, it’s not overly sweet.
And yes, I bake for my gym. They burn 1000 calories and then I allow them to eat half of them back with delicious baked goods. I figure, I’m pregnant and gaining weight, so I’m taking the whole ship down with me.
Here’s how to make them!
recipe adapted from Betty Crocker
Ingredients
- 1 cup of butter, melted
- 2 cups of tightly packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- Chocolate chips, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9×13 pan with nonstick spray.
Mix together the butter and brown sugar for 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla. Blend until fully combined.
Add in the dry ingredients until just mixed.
Pour into the 9×13 pan and press down until evenly distributed.
Bake for 15 minutes. Sprinkle some chocolate chips on top, and return to the oven. Bake another 7-10 minutes until golden brown and toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool and enjoy!
